To become (and remain) a host, you must agree to and uphold our Key Principles and Required Criteria for Hosts. These guidelines are essential to being a host and supporting WWOOF's mission, so please review them carefully.
As WWOOF is organised by country, you need to join WWOOF in the country where your farm, homestead, or garden is situated. You can see the list of WWOOF countries here.
To sign up as a host, once you are on your local WWOOF website, create an account and then select "Become a Host".
During the signup process, you will be asked to describe your farm, the activities you will teach WWOOFers, your desired length of stay for WWOOFers, the types of accommodation you offer, which months you accept visits, any nearby public transportation, languages spoken, whether you accept WWOOFers with pets or children, and more. Make sure to go through every step, including uploading photos of your farm and paying your membership fee.
For your WWOOF host application to be approved, besides meeting our hosting principles and criteria, your profile must:
- Have at least three clear photos, including at least one photo of your farming projects and a photo of where WWOOFers will sleep.
- Indicate the course of a typical day: Participation in the activities (detailed info), time/organization of meals, etc
- The activities proposed to WWOOFers must be mainly of agricultural nature (production, processing, etc.). Eco-construction is authorized but must be secondary and linked to agricultural activity (fence, chicken coop, restoration of a barn...). Activities such as cleaning a guesthouse or a campsite, helping with cooking for commercial purposes, serving in the dining room, or welcoming customers should not be included, and they might lead to membership termination.
- NOT contain contact details in the description (phone, email, address, link to personal site).
Once you’ve paid the membership fee, our team will review your application within five business days. During this period, we may contact you to obtain additional information or to complete additional steps.
If your application is approved, you will receive an email confirming that your profile has been published. If your application is not approved because you do not meet our hosting principles and criteria, your membership fee will be refunded [1].
Once approved, you'll become a member of the WWOOF organization where your farm is located. Memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
[1] By law, WWOOF Italy is not authorized to offer refunds on memberships.
