WWOOFers and hosts are required to communicate via the WWOOF inbox. Only WWOOFers can send visit requests to hosts.
Managing visits in your WWOOF inbox, plus ensuring visits have the correct dates and a “confirmed” status, provides several significant benefits:
- Host calendars are automatically updated.
- Visit reminders are sent to both members a week before the visit starts.
- Review reminders are sent to both members on the day the visit ends.
- Hosts are listed on WWOOFer profiles as past hosts.
- Increases safety by ensuring that WWOOF staff is aware of members' whereabouts.
Please note: All planned visits must have a “confirmed” status to be considered official WWOOF visits.
When a WWOOFer submits a visit request, the host will receive an email notification. Afterward, each time a message is sent between a host and a WWOOFer, the recipient will receive an email notification with a direct link to their WWOOF inbox.
For Hosts:
From your WWOOF inbox, you will see two options for answering a visit request: “accept” or "decline". By default, a request is set to “pending”, which means you haven’t confirmed your ability to host the WWOOFer yet. You may continue to send as many messages or questions as you’d like while keeping your answer set as “pending”. Once an agreement is reached, you can "accept" their request. If you decide not to host them, simply select “decline”. Note that to “accept” or “decline” you must send a message as well.
If you have accepted a visit request, please ask the WWOOFer to “confirm” their visit.
For WWOOFers:
Once a host accepts your visit request, from your WWOOF inbox, you can either "confirm" the visit or "cancel" it if your plans have changed. After you confirm a visit, the host’s calendar will automatically update to indicate the planned visit. Both hosts and WWOOFers may adjust the dates of a visit request at any time.
To help hosts plan, please “confirm” any intended visits as soon as possible and “cancel” any pending visits and/or any other accepted visit requests that might overlap.
For Both WWOOFers and Hosts:
Hosts cannot create new visit requests, but they can initiate communication with WWOOFers by sending them a message. If a WWOOFer wishes to visit a host who has reached out to them, they must convert the message into a visit request by adding the desired visit dates and then following the steps above to confirm it.
